Pentecost in Retrospect 2005

Dear Friends: Although Pentecost Day has already come and gone this year, in this issue of Crossings we are asking you to take another look at it with us. We call it Pentecost in Retrospect.

  • C is for Consider
as in consider that the world has seen two Pentecosts. The first took place at Mount Sinai, the second took place in an upper room; both are described as "gifts" of God, yet the second is given to surpass the first.

  • R is for Right
as in keeping Law and Gospel in Right relation to one another.

  • O is for "Old" and "Orders" and "Oughts",
as in the "old creation," "orders of creation," and "oughts of existence," all which pertain to the realm of the Law.

  • S-S is for Superior Shalom
or "Surpassing Peace" of which congregations sing.

  • I is for Incarnate
which is where Christ plants his peace, "in the flesh," in us, in the world, making a new creation.

  • N is for Newsletter
Newsletter editor, that is. You may have noticed that Steven Kuhl, our President, has been acting as interim editor of this Crossings newsletter this past year. For that we owe him a sincere "thank you" for a job well done.

  • G-S is for Gifts of the Spirit
which abound in the Crossings Community.
