O-S-S is for
'On Sain Sex'
"Sain sex" was Robert W. Bertram's way of referring to sex and sexuality as needing a good crossing. (The literal meaning of the old English word, "sain," meant "to cross one's self.") He intended to finish a whole length book. In his later years, he published several shorter chapter-length essays on the subject, and some were still works in progress.
I admit I am not eager to jump back into the editing of Bob's literature. But I am convinced that the matter of sexuality and marriage is timely today as ever. I will be turning my attention to this final installment of writings by Bertram in the coming year. I know that Crossings President Steve Kuhl has already agreed to work with me on this project, together with a few other hopefuls Bob had in mind.
In the meantime, we hope you will enjoy the soon-to-be released Bertram book, A Time for Confessing together with the Appendix, Post-modernity's CRUX. This will be published by Wm. B. Eerdmans sometime in mid-2007, complete with a Crossings' sponsored book-signing ceremony. We'll keep you posted on this, and hope that you will want your own copy.
